Cake Plate Stands Creative Do It Yourself

Cake Cupcake Stand Blue Glass Pedestal Vintage Inspired

Yellow 2 Tier Cake Stand Jewelry Holder

                     Cake Plate Pedestal Plant Stand

Cake Plate Stands Creative Do It Yourself

I Thrift, I Junk, I Repurpose, and I love Vintage too! There are so many creative ways for cake plate stands that there is bound to be one that will fit your lifestyle. I enjoy how these cake stands allow you to place more food on your tables, and how it is so visually appealing to everyone too. Another thought is how these pedestal stands are efficient, and they are space savers too. They can be simple, they can be modern, and of course they are functional for whatever your style may be.

Many uses to consider when you create these pieces too. They make beautiful cake or pastry plate stands, birthday cupcakes, candle holders, jewelry dish, soap dish in the bathroom with maybe some decorative soaps and rolled cloths, napkin holders, wedding decor, center piece, home decor, and many other possibilities too. They can be unique, and a thoughtful gift for special occasions as well.

Some of these stands get painted. Not to worry as you can then use cupcake liners, doilies, or even scrapbook papers underneath the food. Neat, huh?

Supplies to consider in making these are candle holders, pencil holders, tea cups, coffee cups, vases, small bowls, and it's an endless list. To make the tier stands you can use glues with the candle holders. Or, you could use a drill, saw, some bolts, nuts, threads, and rubber bumpers for the bottoms.

These are enjoyable to make, and I enjoy offering them with my shops as well at Ecrater, and Etsy. Sometimes I will add a ribbon bow, some lace, pearls, buttons, birds, and other embellishments. Sometimes I just enjoy the decorative plate with the stands that I am selective with too. Depending on the base piece you use these can be flipped over for more uses too. Visit my shops to see pictures with some of the possibilities.

If you feel you do not have the creative touch to do this, do not have the time, or for whatever reasons make sure to check the internet. Check with many other artisans at Ecrater, and Etsy that also do this. As one customer had commented to me . . . she could probably do this, but she did not really have the patience or the time. So, for her she was comfortable with paying someone to do all of this.

Hope you enjoyed your visit today, and I appreciate you sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl. See you again soon. Happy Thrifting, and Creating!

Pretend You Are Moving Get Back to the Basics

So, do you have a lot of treasures in your home that are taking up room? You love everyone of them, but really hate to see them go. You just can't get yourself to let them go. You have enjoyed the pieces as you found them from Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, Estate Sales, while junkin, and so on. You maybe found some really sweet deals when you acquired them, you have sold some of them, given them as gifts, repurposed upcycled some of the pieces, but you are still haunted when viewing your inventory, right?

Don't worry, you are not the only one to have this issue. So, what do you do? What is really haunting is what if you had to move, and how would you move all of this? Think of all the excuses you generally use, and then imagine that you truly have to move. Ouch! What a job it would be to wrap everything, maybe get upset that you have so much, wonder why you did not down size sooner, and etc. Well, some of us are really moving, making plans to move, maybe consider a move, and some of us are predicting maybe for the future with our goals we set. It happens quite often. So, what do you do with all your pretties?

We all have addictions of hoarding in some ways. Instead of dwelling on when is the right time to do this, consider doing it now! Truly think of it as you are moving. I am sure you got some really good prices when you were thrifting, yard saling, and digging for some of those treasures. You have sold some pieces, given some away, repurposed some, but you still have pieces sitting there from maybe when you first found them. It's time to let them go by donating them back to charities, and to the thrift stores for those who truly need them, and can use them. It is time to let someone else enjoy them, use them as needed, and to enjoy them in their own way as we ourselves have.

As soon as you have thoughts of moving, and to down size you need to work on it. Don't give it a second thought. Box it up, give to charities, donate, and find thrift stores for these things. If you leave them sit by finding excuses, have secondary thoughts you will find the boxes piling, and then get upset you did not do it sooner. Just remember that you are "moving" and keep that thought with you. The sooner you can do this, the much happier you will be.

Hey, our addictions don't go away for thrifting. Sometimes it does us good to refresh our inventory/treasures with new pieces. But, first making that "move" by making room for the new must really be done.

Just tell yourself repeatedly that you "have to do this" and you "really need to do this" LOL:) I know it hurts, but again think of it as "moving" Let that thought make you nervous, and get to doing it. You will find it does help, and it really feels good too. I myself have not had any time frames of doing the down sizing that I have been dealing with. It sure does feel good to do it! I don't want to get stuck packing all of this, and I enjoy making the room for other pieces I might find along the way too.

How about it? Finding yourself over whelmed with all those treasures? It will be hard, but take that first step, and do it one at a time. You will truly be happy with your decision, and maybe make a few others at home happy too.

Don't be over whelmed. There truly is some hope. LOL:) I hope you enjoyed your visit with Thrifty Shop Girl, and found that the thought of "moving" will truly help you. Take care, and see you all again soon. Happy Thrifting!

Tea Pots, Coffee Pots, Cups and Saucers Repurposed

Repurposed Tea Pots Into Flower Pots

Tea Pot Repurposed Into Wind Chimes

Bird Houses From Repurposed Teapots and Coffee Pots

Repurposed Tea Cup Saucer Into Dome Stand

Tea Cups Repurposed Into Candle Holders

Tea Pots, Coffee Pots, Cups and Saucers Repurposed. What fun this is!

How often do you find yourself having some extra tea pots, coffee pots, cups, and saucers that you found while thrifting. Sometimes you pick them up as lonely pieces, maybe they come from a broken set of your own, your have pieces not being used, and etc. Not to worry there is hope for them to use with your decor. Use them inside the home, or outside your home as well. Repurpose them by crafting!

Teapots are not always for everyone. Yeah, they are cute for show with settings in your home. However, there are some adorable alternatives for using them beyond your kitchens as you can see above, or if you were to search with Bing, and Google too.

You know you might also have some teapots, coffee pots, cups, saucers, and such that are just plain ugly, or have some minor imperfections. Don't throw those. You could also decorate those with maybe some adorable colored pebbles, use some rocks, find some extra twine to use or some yarn to wrap them, and so on.

As you can see above there are many ways to reuse, repurpose, and upcycle these forgotten pieces. Those shown are only a few of the neat ideas I have shared. You could also consider some lights, lamps, candle holders as shown, candle holder stands, some lovely bird feeders, and just so much more!

All of that creativity is over whelming, whew! They are so enjoyable though, aren't they? If you are like me often while thrifting, and yard saling you find many unwanted pieces being offered. They are either lonely, unwanted, have fulfilled a home and ready for a new, maybe have some minor imperfections, but you see a way to revive them by giving them a new life. Bring it home, and find something creative to do with it. Don't forget to check your own inventories as there might also be some unwanted pieces there as well.

Now, if you don't have the time, or the creative thoughts within you keep in mind there are many out there who make things like this, and sell them too. They have shops online with Ecrater, Etsy, and there are some creative people with Ebay too. If you wish to see a wide selection just use your bing search, or google it. Hit the images tab, and watch what all comes alive before your eyes.

Now the next time that you are out thrifting, and yard saling you will have a few more ideas to add to your lists of wants and needs. Find them unwanted treasures to give them a new life for your homes, or to offer to other homes as well. Have fun, enjoy, and thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl! Take care, and see you all again soon. Happy Thrifting!

Thrift Finds Repurposed Upcycled

                                         Thrift Store Finds

Cupcake Dessert Stand Green Glass Pedestal Vintage Inspired

Cupcake Stand Vintage Inspired Amber Glass Pedestal Wedding Decor

Thrift Finds Repurposed Upcycled

I just love thrifting, junking, and vintage items too!  The first picture above shows a few things that I had found a while ago while thrifting. A couple of the pieces in the picture were used to make the cupcake stands that you see below my thrift finds.

There are many names used in reference to such pieces. Cupcake stand, amber pedestal stand, vintage inspired, candle holder, soap dish, jewelry dish, bathroom organizer, wedding decor, home decor, and the list goes on. I enjoy creating some of these pieces as they can be versatile, but also have different uses for them. One thing I like is the idea of flipping these over using the plate as the stand, and then using the adorable glass candy dishes as a candy dish, candle holder, trinket dish, jewelry holder, maybe some floating candles, and just so many possibilities!

The 2 handmade items viewed above are listed with my LilacsNDreams ecrater shop. I would love for you to visit, see all the pictures, and the details of things. Make sure to contact Me with any specific questions that you might have.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you again soon. Till then my friends "Happy Thrifting"

Thrift Store Finds For Monday

Thrift Store Finds For Monday

This was not a big weekend for me to do much of anything, and that includes thrift stores or yard sales. There were plenty of yard sales in town with the weekend events they had there with Rise Fest taking place. Yet, I found myself not wanting to much of anything. We dealt with rain, and lightening on Friday night. We again had some showers, and cool air Saturday morning which then lead to sunshine with some humid air.

I did manage to visit our local thrift store, and found the items you see listed above. The blue ball glass jars, a small half pint Paullina Dairy jar in it's wire holder, and then a blue coupon organizer. The jars are all sitting on my small bay window in the kitchen, and rather adorable there too.

So, how was your weekend? Any special finds for you?

Thanks for sharing some time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and Happy Thrifting everyone!

Have a Wonderful Fun Filled Saturday

Have a Wonderful Fun Filled Saturday Everyone!

Finally able to hop on by here to let everyone know I was absent due to a computer issue. I was working on my posts I wanted to have done for here. Moving right along, and all of a sudden the screen went black. No warning!

So, I waited few minutes, and turned the computer off, and back on. Screen was coming in, and out till it finally would stay black. Had sound, and everything just no screen. So, on Thursday I was lucky enough to be able to get the monitor to a computer place to have it diagnosed for me. I was really hoping it would be a new power cord that was needed, or maybe a new vsg cord needed. Unfortunately, I was not so luck. I was told I would need a new monitor.

I spent all day today hitting yard sales, some of the thrift stores in the area, and was about to give up when I found a monitor that I was able to get. Bit smaller than my other one, but it will do for now. It's new, it runs, and it will be a back up monitor if ever needed too.

Hopefully soon I will get to the cities where I can spend more time looking, and definitely have some choices of ones to choose from too.

By the way while driving to another location to search for a monitor I had a neat idea in the car about what to do with the one not working. As the tech told me for the age of the screen it is in good condition. So, I decided instead of throwing it out I want to repurpose the monitor. I am thinking of maybe putting some sort of cork board over it, or around the outer edging not touching the screen. I then want to add a small edge to it as well. I could then use it in the office as a message center, or I could use it on the kitchen counter as a message center too. With the edge it would have I could also set maybe a cookbook on it with recipes to use when cooking too. I am really liking this idea, and have been having visions of it too.

Hope this finds ya'll doing well, and thanks so much for sharing some time with Thrifty Shop Girl. Enjoy your Saturday! Have fun, and hope you are able to do some thrifting, or yard sales too. See you all again soon.

Thrift Store Yard Sale Finds Repurposed and Upcycled

I love junking, vintage, and repurposing! I love finding things that can be reused with just a little bit of cleaning, and sometimes maybe a little touch up too. I also enjoy creating pieces in a new way to enjoy them with our homes. As you will see above the first picture is from what I shared with you all on Monday, June 10, 2013. I love glassware, and I enjoy things that are wooden too. You know a little bit of glue, a little bit of paint, this goes with that, and you have something new again.

From what was shared you can see that I used a couple of the pieces to repurpose, or upcycle them. I attached the blue, and white small plates to some gorgeous cobalt blue glass candle holders making these pedestal stands you are viewing. The possibilities for these kind of pieces are endless. Use them as cupcake stands, candle holders, soap dishes in the bathroom, jewelry dishes on your dressers, they are gorgeous with wedding decor, and the possibilities are endless.

If you would like to see all the pictures, and descriptions for these items visit my shop at Ecrater. Any questions make sure to contact Me as I would be happy to assist you.

Thanks so much for visiting with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you all back again soon. Take care, and have fun thrifting and junking too!

Thrift Store Yard Sale Finds Over the Weekend

Thrift Store Yard Sale Finds Over Weekend

Above you will see pictures for a small amount of some thrift store, or yard sale finds that I had found over the weekend. Not really a whole lot. It has been raining, and when I was out of town I was seeing quite a few yard sale signs. Yet, with the rainy weather the mood just did not feel right to get out, get wet with the hard rains, and you know what I mean. The rains had lifted briefly for a bit, and I did get out for some small finds you are seeing above.

The two blue, and white small plates you are seeing have already been upcycled to stands. Oh, yeah, at an antique business that uses barns on their property I found 2 cobalt blue glass candle holders that I used for the stands with them. I will have to dig the pictures up to show you how they turned out. Better yet, if you would like to see them I do have them listed with my LilacsNDreams shop at Ecrater too. Adorable little pieces, and I take satisfaction in the pieces that I find that come together to mate.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl today. Hope the weather has been good for ya'll. Hopefully you were able to get out and about with your thrifting, and junking over the weekend. Happy Thrifting Everyone, and see you all again soon. Toodles!

Crown Staffordshire Fine Bone China Vintage Candle Holders

This set came from a few years ago, and I cannot remember where I found them. I think at the time they had been given to me from an ebayer seller of a long time ago. It seems like I have had these like forever! They are so so clean, shiny, such vibrant color, a distinctive soft embedded design, and for their age look very good to this day. This set often sat on different shelves in the home with some of my other thrift store, and yard sale finds. I never used them with candles, never burnt candles with them, but only treasured them as they were.

As I have mentioned before it is that time of year for me to clean house, lighten some of my inventory of things, and I have decided to let these go. You can see this set with my LilacsNDreams shop at Ecrater. View all the pictures, details, and make sure to contact Me with any questions you may have. I would be happy to assist you.

These vintage candle holders are a treasured set to adorn any home, but are also something to be cherished from times past too.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl today everyone! It's been a pleasure, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and Happy Thrifting!

Vintage Hurricane Electric Lamp 1970s White Hobnail Base Hand Painted Roses

Vintage Hurricane Electric Lamp 1970s White Hobnail Base and Hand Painted Roses

I just love thrift stores, second hand stores, yard sales, and all of those places! There is so many things that are discarded, people donate, and thankfully instead of throwing or letting them accumulate dust, they give them to such places. So many treasures to be found, and above it one of those treasures.

About a year ago when thrifting with another friend of mine I had found this lamp. I adore the hurricane lamps, and those with the globes too. This one has the adorable key like on, and off switch. Has a long brown cord, is so clean, shiny, the milk white is gorgeous with the beaded hobnail design surrounding the edge, vibrant coloring in the hurricane yet, and still works too! I have had this sitting on my great grandmother's old end table in the living room during that time. I think I have only used it once during that time. Most of the time it was just there for show really.

That time of year again to rearrange, clear out some of the treasures I have, and of course making room for some new ones to be found. So, with this vintage hurricane electric lamp I have decided to sell it with my shop at Etsy. If you like give a click, hop on over to view the pictures, and details with this too. It can also be purchased through my Etsy shop called LilacsNDreams, or if you contact Me I can invoice you for this adorable 1970s hand painted hurricane lamp too. Contact Me, and I would be happy to assist you with this.

I love this time of year when things are fresh, growing, and of course all the wonderful treasures that come out for others to enjoy. I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday. Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and see you again soon. Take care treasure hunters!

Summer Time Fun Thrift Junk and Repurpose

Summer Time Fun Thrift Junk and Repurpe

WooHoo! Here it's June finally, and summer here we come! Got big plans for this summer? Do your plans include maybe doing some thrift shopping, yard saling, flea markets, or some estate sales? Yes, my plans include these things. They also include spending time with family, friends, grilling, sunning, and events that come with all of that. I also enjoy the idea of working on some projects. I have been waiting for this time with my notes I have prepared, my lists I have been making so that I can start my searches for different treasures to use for projects I would like to complete.

Now that it has gotten a bit warmer out I look forward to opening the garage, and getting some small projects painted. I also will enjoy filling my dining room table with some projects to complete as well. I know just like a little kid with their toy box. What can I say? I really enjoy this, and so look forward to this too.

I hope ya'll enjoyed your weekend, and I wish you a super week too! Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and I look forward to seeing you again soon. Take care till then.
