Upcycled Repurposed Vintage Wooden Hangers

Vintage Wooden Hangers Upcycled Towel Bars

                  Vintage Wooden Hangers Decouped Upcycled

Upcycled Wooden Hangers Into Photo Gallery

Upcycled Repurposed Vintage Wooden Hangers, and how neat of an idea that these are too!

So, how many of you have some of these old wooden hangers hanging around collecting dust? How many times have you been out thrifting, and yard saling when you have seen these being offered for little to nothing? I know, like me I would see them, and wonder what on earth could be done with these. After roaming the internet for a little bit researching this idea I now know from others there are quite a few things that we can do with them.

Upcycle vintage wooden hangers into towel bars, decoupe them, make a photo gallery with them, seen a wonderful coat hanger made with wooden hangers, paint them, make them into jewelry holders, repurpose some hanging lights, and there is so much out there being shared by many other creative people. After seeing some of these things I know now not to get rid of my wooden hangers I have been collecting. I also am anxious, and hoping to find more when I am out thrifting too.

Feels good to be back into circulation with everything again, and to be back here with my blog as well. Some of the time away did me some good too. Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl! See you all again soon, and till then . . . Happy Thrifting!!

Word or Letter Art Done by Photography

                                    Framed Letter Art by Carolyn

                                    Word Art by MyCastleHeart

Hello, Hello, and Hello again everyone! A very Happy Friday to you all!

Word or Letter Art Done by Photography is a really cool thing! Have you all seen this before? This is something to really consider, and you might just find yourself really looking at things around you in a different way. In many many things that we see every day there are letters of sorts within them. As you can see above it can come in all forms, shapes, and sizes. What is really unique is how it is there right in front of us, but we have to just 'see' it.  Interesting, who would have guessed?

Partial legs on a chair, an old wagon wheel, shapes of windows maybe at church, the curl end of some scrolled iron/metal, fence posts, old vintage water pumps, and the possibilities are truly endless with this. How neat, creative, and such a simple way to add with our decor in our homes don't you think? I am sure when I am out now, going down the road, looking at buildings, and just everyday things I will now see some of them in a different way. What a fun creative task for any of us to do. LOL:) Kind of like being a kid all over again, right?

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and I hope you were able to find something to inspire you with. Of course when you find that inspiration it is time to go thrifting again too, right? LOL:) Ya'll take care, and have a beautiful creative thrifty weekend. See you all again soon. Toodles . . . . .

Vintage Collectibles Cast Aluminum Wall Plaque

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Collectibles-Cast-Aluminum-Wall-Plaque-My-Wife-Has-A-Drinking-Problem-Me-/251307570050?pt=Plaques_Signs&hash=item3a83193382

Sometimes we do not have to go outside our homes to go thrifting. Once in a while some good old house cleaning, organizing, and downsizing can make a big difference for us all too. Well, upon going through things at home, look at what I found! I forgot I had this, and of course had a good laugh with it too. Had it sitting out for a while so that the kids could laugh at it when they visited, and of course for hubby to get a chuckle about it too.

I remember this piece being at my grandparent's place on the farm. Yes, they were farmers all their lives, and they sure had some yummy finds just going through their barns, and things too. I so miss those days, and some of the things that had disappeared over time too.

Anyway, what a conversational piece this could make for another happy home. Would give everyone a good chuckle when visiting you. I have this listed with Ebay with free shipping. Hop on over to have a look, see all the pictures, read the description, and see the details. If you have any specific questions make sure to contact Me as I would be happy to assist you.

Thanks for visiting with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you again soon. Happy Thrifting!

Thrifty Shop Finds For Spiral Notebook

Thrift Shop Finds From Weekend Thrifting, and what fun it is too!

Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl, and I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Great weather here, thought maybe rain, but it didn't happen. Instead I hit one of the local shops just to get out of the house, you know what I mean? LOL:) Anyways, above you will see the little goodies that I found to bring home. This is one shop I like to visit with now, and then. Their prices are generally very reasonable, and sometimes I am lucky finding things too.

Now, some of the items pictured above of course are to fit into my own home decor, or to use in the office too. As for the remaining pieces I have some plans for them. I have been gathering a few odds, and ends so that I can get busy with some repurposing, and upcycling of things. I enjoy doing it, have fun with visualizing, and creating a few things. A few posts later from now I am hoping to be able to share with you the completed pieces.

With these completed pieces they sometimes will stay with my home, are given as gifts, but most times I put them into my shops online to offer to everyone. Ecrater, Etsy, and sometimes at Ebay I offer such things. Everyone should be able to also enjoy these things too. But, some do not have the time to do it themselves. As a customer once told me she could do some of the things I do, but does not have the time or patience for it. She would rather pay someone who has done the work of finding pieces, putting them together, and sometimes adding some of the pretties with it too.

So, tell me, how was the weekend for everyone else? Were you able to go thrifting, maybe junking, of just some good old digging and hunting for things? Such a wonderful way to pass time, and better yet if you have a friend with you that also enjoys the same things.

Wishing you all a wonderful Monday, and thanks so much for visiting with Thrifty Shop Girl. I enjoy it, and hope to see you again soon. Till the next time my friends, Happy Thrifting!

Thrift Shop Fun Over the Weekend

Thrift Shop Fun Over the Weekend was not quite as productive as I would have liked. But, hey I did get a few things at one thrift shop.

I like them older tin pie plates. I am slowly trying to collect a few of them as I have a creative project in mind for them. If I could ever get enough for my thought I will then be able to share the results with ya'll here.

I adore the white, and blue quiche pie dish that I found. Very soft blue coloring, very white, shiny, clean, and looks unused too. I am thinking of adding a blue glass goblet to the bottom of it to make a cake cupcake stand. What is great about those stands is they have many possibilities, and uses for them too. Serving, kitchen organizing, bathroom organizing, office organizing, holidays, special occasions, gifts, and endless possibilities.

Well, I slacked off this past week with my shops at Ecrater and Etsy, and with my blogs. It's summer time, and it happens to me now and then. How about you? I spent one day mowing the yard, and one of the big old evergreens decided it needed to come alive, and attach me. I got a big old bruise on my hand from it, scratched arm and leg too. Hubby has orders to be using the saw to do some trimming of this tree so I am not attached again....LOL:) I have spent some time with getting pictures done, and researching a few things to list with Ebay since they are having a special this week with listing. Not my most favorite place to use, but I do need to clean house a bit too.

I will have to come back, and share more pictures with you have some more thrift store finds, and what I have done with some of those items. I am reusing things into my home decor with the office, and in our bathroom. What fun when you can add a little sparkle, and creativity to your life, isn't it?

Hope ya'll had a wonderful 4th of July holiday, and that you have a gorgeous week too! Seasons will soon change, school soon starting, and I have got to get a move on to get a few more projects done myself.

Thanks for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see ya'll again real soon. Have a sweet day everyone!!

Cake Plate Stands Creative Do It Yourself

Cake Cupcake Stand Blue Glass Pedestal Vintage Inspired

Yellow 2 Tier Cake Stand Jewelry Holder

                     Cake Plate Pedestal Plant Stand

Cake Plate Stands Creative Do It Yourself

I Thrift, I Junk, I Repurpose, and I love Vintage too! There are so many creative ways for cake plate stands that there is bound to be one that will fit your lifestyle. I enjoy how these cake stands allow you to place more food on your tables, and how it is so visually appealing to everyone too. Another thought is how these pedestal stands are efficient, and they are space savers too. They can be simple, they can be modern, and of course they are functional for whatever your style may be.

Many uses to consider when you create these pieces too. They make beautiful cake or pastry plate stands, birthday cupcakes, candle holders, jewelry dish, soap dish in the bathroom with maybe some decorative soaps and rolled cloths, napkin holders, wedding decor, center piece, home decor, and many other possibilities too. They can be unique, and a thoughtful gift for special occasions as well.

Some of these stands get painted. Not to worry as you can then use cupcake liners, doilies, or even scrapbook papers underneath the food. Neat, huh?

Supplies to consider in making these are candle holders, pencil holders, tea cups, coffee cups, vases, small bowls, and it's an endless list. To make the tier stands you can use glues with the candle holders. Or, you could use a drill, saw, some bolts, nuts, threads, and rubber bumpers for the bottoms.

These are enjoyable to make, and I enjoy offering them with my shops as well at Ecrater, and Etsy. Sometimes I will add a ribbon bow, some lace, pearls, buttons, birds, and other embellishments. Sometimes I just enjoy the decorative plate with the stands that I am selective with too. Depending on the base piece you use these can be flipped over for more uses too. Visit my shops to see pictures with some of the possibilities.

If you feel you do not have the creative touch to do this, do not have the time, or for whatever reasons make sure to check the internet. Check with many other artisans at Ecrater, and Etsy that also do this. As one customer had commented to me . . . she could probably do this, but she did not really have the patience or the time. So, for her she was comfortable with paying someone to do all of this.

Hope you enjoyed your visit today, and I appreciate you sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl. See you again soon. Happy Thrifting, and Creating!

Tea Pots, Coffee Pots, Cups and Saucers Repurposed

Repurposed Tea Pots Into Flower Pots

Tea Pot Repurposed Into Wind Chimes

Bird Houses From Repurposed Teapots and Coffee Pots

Repurposed Tea Cup Saucer Into Dome Stand

Tea Cups Repurposed Into Candle Holders

Tea Pots, Coffee Pots, Cups and Saucers Repurposed. What fun this is!

How often do you find yourself having some extra tea pots, coffee pots, cups, and saucers that you found while thrifting. Sometimes you pick them up as lonely pieces, maybe they come from a broken set of your own, your have pieces not being used, and etc. Not to worry there is hope for them to use with your decor. Use them inside the home, or outside your home as well. Repurpose them by crafting!

Teapots are not always for everyone. Yeah, they are cute for show with settings in your home. However, there are some adorable alternatives for using them beyond your kitchens as you can see above, or if you were to search with Bing, and Google too.

You know you might also have some teapots, coffee pots, cups, saucers, and such that are just plain ugly, or have some minor imperfections. Don't throw those. You could also decorate those with maybe some adorable colored pebbles, use some rocks, find some extra twine to use or some yarn to wrap them, and so on.

As you can see above there are many ways to reuse, repurpose, and upcycle these forgotten pieces. Those shown are only a few of the neat ideas I have shared. You could also consider some lights, lamps, candle holders as shown, candle holder stands, some lovely bird feeders, and just so much more!

All of that creativity is over whelming, whew! They are so enjoyable though, aren't they? If you are like me often while thrifting, and yard saling you find many unwanted pieces being offered. They are either lonely, unwanted, have fulfilled a home and ready for a new, maybe have some minor imperfections, but you see a way to revive them by giving them a new life. Bring it home, and find something creative to do with it. Don't forget to check your own inventories as there might also be some unwanted pieces there as well.

Now, if you don't have the time, or the creative thoughts within you keep in mind there are many out there who make things like this, and sell them too. They have shops online with Ecrater, Etsy, and there are some creative people with Ebay too. If you wish to see a wide selection just use your bing search, or google it. Hit the images tab, and watch what all comes alive before your eyes.

Now the next time that you are out thrifting, and yard saling you will have a few more ideas to add to your lists of wants and needs. Find them unwanted treasures to give them a new life for your homes, or to offer to other homes as well. Have fun, enjoy, and thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl! Take care, and see you all again soon. Happy Thrifting!

Thrift Finds Repurposed Upcycled

                                         Thrift Store Finds

Cupcake Dessert Stand Green Glass Pedestal Vintage Inspired

Cupcake Stand Vintage Inspired Amber Glass Pedestal Wedding Decor

Thrift Finds Repurposed Upcycled

I just love thrifting, junking, and vintage items too!  The first picture above shows a few things that I had found a while ago while thrifting. A couple of the pieces in the picture were used to make the cupcake stands that you see below my thrift finds.

There are many names used in reference to such pieces. Cupcake stand, amber pedestal stand, vintage inspired, candle holder, soap dish, jewelry dish, bathroom organizer, wedding decor, home decor, and the list goes on. I enjoy creating some of these pieces as they can be versatile, but also have different uses for them. One thing I like is the idea of flipping these over using the plate as the stand, and then using the adorable glass candy dishes as a candy dish, candle holder, trinket dish, jewelry holder, maybe some floating candles, and just so many possibilities!

The 2 handmade items viewed above are listed with my LilacsNDreams ecrater shop. I would love for you to visit, see all the pictures, and the details of things. Make sure to contact Me with any specific questions that you might have.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you again soon. Till then my friends "Happy Thrifting"

Cupcake Stand Dessert Blue Glass Pedestal Vintage Inspired

Thrift Store Yard Sale Finds Repurposed and Upcycled

I love junking, vintage, and repurposing! I love finding things that can be reused with just a little bit of cleaning, and sometimes maybe a little touch up too. I also enjoy creating pieces in a new way to enjoy them with our homes. As you will see above the first picture is from what I shared with you all on Monday, June 10, 2013. I love glassware, and I enjoy things that are wooden too. You know a little bit of glue, a little bit of paint, this goes with that, and you have something new again.

From what was shared you can see that I used a couple of the pieces to repurpose, or upcycle them. I attached the blue, and white small plates to some gorgeous cobalt blue glass candle holders making these pedestal stands you are viewing. The possibilities for these kind of pieces are endless. Use them as cupcake stands, candle holders, soap dishes in the bathroom, jewelry dishes on your dressers, they are gorgeous with wedding decor, and the possibilities are endless.

If you would like to see all the pictures, and descriptions for these items visit my shop at Ecrater. Any questions make sure to contact Me as I would be happy to assist you.

Thanks so much for visiting with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you all back again soon. Take care, and have fun thrifting and junking too!

Thrift Store Yard Sale Finds Over the Weekend

Thrift Store Yard Sale Finds Over Weekend

Above you will see pictures for a small amount of some thrift store, or yard sale finds that I had found over the weekend. Not really a whole lot. It has been raining, and when I was out of town I was seeing quite a few yard sale signs. Yet, with the rainy weather the mood just did not feel right to get out, get wet with the hard rains, and you know what I mean. The rains had lifted briefly for a bit, and I did get out for some small finds you are seeing above.

The two blue, and white small plates you are seeing have already been upcycled to stands. Oh, yeah, at an antique business that uses barns on their property I found 2 cobalt blue glass candle holders that I used for the stands with them. I will have to dig the pictures up to show you how they turned out. Better yet, if you would like to see them I do have them listed with my LilacsNDreams shop at Ecrater too. Adorable little pieces, and I take satisfaction in the pieces that I find that come together to mate.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl today. Hope the weather has been good for ya'll. Hopefully you were able to get out and about with your thrifting, and junking over the weekend. Happy Thrifting Everyone, and see you all again soon. Toodles!

Crown Staffordshire Fine Bone China Vintage Candle Holders

This set came from a few years ago, and I cannot remember where I found them. I think at the time they had been given to me from an ebayer seller of a long time ago. It seems like I have had these like forever! They are so so clean, shiny, such vibrant color, a distinctive soft embedded design, and for their age look very good to this day. This set often sat on different shelves in the home with some of my other thrift store, and yard sale finds. I never used them with candles, never burnt candles with them, but only treasured them as they were.

As I have mentioned before it is that time of year for me to clean house, lighten some of my inventory of things, and I have decided to let these go. You can see this set with my LilacsNDreams shop at Ecrater. View all the pictures, details, and make sure to contact Me with any questions you may have. I would be happy to assist you.

These vintage candle holders are a treasured set to adorn any home, but are also something to be cherished from times past too.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl today everyone! It's been a pleasure, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and Happy Thrifting!

Preparing For New Season of Junkin and Thrift Shopping

Preparing For New Season of Junkin and Thrift Shopping

Hi, and Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl! Glad to have you stopping by. In the area I live in Old Man Winter has been trying to hang onto us here, and drag the winter out longer than should be too. I believe this week it is no longer working. Sunshine days, temperatures rising during the day, temperatures warming more at night, no snow but rain, and so on. Spring is finally showing herself to us.

With the seasons changing also comes a new season for Junkin, and Thrifting too! There have been some areas where the weather has been great, and some people have been able to start off with the seasonal shopping. I myself am getting antsy, and I envy those who have already been able to get out, and get started with this seasonal change.

These past couple of years I had slowed down on thrifting, and junking in order to lower my inventory. Also, to change my ways of shopping to what I probably would need. Not what I seen that looks good, is cute, and have to have purchases. Although not all the inventory is gone I have lowered it quite a bit, and of course have made room for more shopping, and to go digging again too! Vintage Collectibles, find items to repurpose, look for items to upcycle, and just find some lovelies that I can reuse too.

I decided this year to stay better organized, and more prepared with things that I should make a list of items that I would like to find, search for, and find. It never fails that every year I always get sidetracked with sales, and come home with loads of things I shouldn't be buying, or you know....that really weren't needed. Come on, you know what I am talking about, right? I figured with a wish list I would at least have more of a goal of what I am wanting, what I need, and it will definitely give me more ideas of what I should be sticking with too. So, tell me, what is on your list for this year?

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl everyone, and hope to see you all again soon. Take care, and Happy Thriftin and Junkin too!

Reasons to Thrift and What to Thrift Shop For

Chevron Blankets                  Glass Lamps

Jewelry of sorts                             Chair

Shoes     AND Picture above is for the Roll Top Desk
Vintage Dishes, Plates, Etc         Vintage Tupperware

Reasons to Thrift, and What to Thrift Shop For. I can think of many with no excuses needed too. How about you? What is your preference? Thrift Stores, Second Hand Stores, Estate Sales, Good Will, Online Stores, and so many more places.

My preference is Thrift Stores, Second Hand Stores, and Estate Sales too. When I go out thrifting for the day I will go to all kinds of stores. All depends what town, or city I am in. What is there to shop with, and sometimes what I am in the mood to shop for too. Sometimes I want to shop just for items that I can repurpose with, upcycle, and recycle with. Other times it might be something I am looking for in the home with some of our decor. I am thrilled when I can find older vintage pieces, collectibles, and other times I will buy curtains, table cloths, or different linens just because I like the materials to use in altering for my own purposes.

So many possibilities out there to be seen, to have, and shopping on a dime is so much fun too! The pictures shown above this are just ideas of different things that can be found when you are out thrifting. The possibilities are endless. If you truly love the hunt then you will enjoy thrifting too. Sometimes I go by myself as I can spend time looking. But, sometimes having a friend along is a blast too. Someone to share your finds with, and ideas too.

Here it is the middle of the week. The weekend will soon be here, today is the official start of spring, weather is getting better to shop in, and I don't know about you....but I sure am getting antsy for the season to be good so I can get out there to do some thrifting.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl today everyone. Glad to see you, and hope to see you dropping by again soon. Take care, have fun, and happy thrifting everyone!
