Repurpose Reuse Upcycle For Memories to Last

Repurpose, Reuse, Upcycle, Recycle For Memories to Last

Thrifty Shop Girl is curious as to why so many of us like this diy crafting of repurposing, upcycling, and reusing. Just curious to see what everyone's reasons are for this wonderful technique.

I know there are many of us who do it because we enjoy it. Others like to preserve items found, or things from our past. Some of us like to freshen up what we have to make it just a little bit more modern to fit in with our decor of today. Then, there are some of us who just hate throwing things away, and try to find other ways to use such items that we have too. Of course, when we are thrifting, and junking we also find many unwanted treasures that we can use for this pleasure as well.

There are many people all around us who do this for themselves, and there are many out there who do this for the purpose of selling too. Some do it as a hobby, and many others have mastered having their own business with this too.

Upcycling, and Repurposing is the use of old items for new purposes. Reuse discarded materials for creating something of value. I myself like to repurpose items that may have the potential for something fresh, and because it makes it unique. I adore giving new life to once loved treasures, but also adore a new life added to my home, and to the homes of others too.

So so many things are used with this wonderful diy craft that the list is endless. Headboards are made from shutters, bi-fold doors, old wire fence doors, pallets, etc. Many people will use pieces of jewelry to either make new pieces, maybe use them for around picture frames of loved ones, adding to cards, and the possibilities are endless. I have seen some really neat suitcases used by adding expandable files to them for the office, and for holding precious family papers too. Another neat idea is using some of them old sweaters for making unique market bags to be used, or for wonderful handbags as well. What about some of those mason jars, and what people do with them? Making them candle holders, adding solar lights to them, making soap dispensers with them, and so on. Just amazing what everyone can do with such lovelies.

Whether you are a seller, business owner, hobbyist, etc it is a joy when the job is completed, and brings much satisfaction to many of us. Some people do not have the time for this craft, or feel they are not able to do so and will buy from others that do. Whatever your reasons may be it brings joy to all around us.

Repurpose, and Upcycle For Memories to Last. Hang onto some of those family memories, and preserve them with this craft.

Thanks so much for visiting with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you all again soon. Take care, and Happy Thrifting everyone!

Thrift Store Yard Sale Finds Repurposed and Upcycled

I love junking, vintage, and repurposing! I love finding things that can be reused with just a little bit of cleaning, and sometimes maybe a little touch up too. I also enjoy creating pieces in a new way to enjoy them with our homes. As you will see above the first picture is from what I shared with you all on Monday, June 10, 2013. I love glassware, and I enjoy things that are wooden too. You know a little bit of glue, a little bit of paint, this goes with that, and you have something new again.

From what was shared you can see that I used a couple of the pieces to repurpose, or upcycle them. I attached the blue, and white small plates to some gorgeous cobalt blue glass candle holders making these pedestal stands you are viewing. The possibilities for these kind of pieces are endless. Use them as cupcake stands, candle holders, soap dishes in the bathroom, jewelry dishes on your dressers, they are gorgeous with wedding decor, and the possibilities are endless.

If you would like to see all the pictures, and descriptions for these items visit my shop at Ecrater. Any questions make sure to contact Me as I would be happy to assist you.

Thanks so much for visiting with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you all back again soon. Take care, and have fun thrifting and junking too!

Summer Time Fun Thrift Junk and Repurpose

Summer Time Fun Thrift Junk and Repurpe

WooHoo! Here it's June finally, and summer here we come! Got big plans for this summer? Do your plans include maybe doing some thrift shopping, yard saling, flea markets, or some estate sales? Yes, my plans include these things. They also include spending time with family, friends, grilling, sunning, and events that come with all of that. I also enjoy the idea of working on some projects. I have been waiting for this time with my notes I have prepared, my lists I have been making so that I can start my searches for different treasures to use for projects I would like to complete.

Now that it has gotten a bit warmer out I look forward to opening the garage, and getting some small projects painted. I also will enjoy filling my dining room table with some projects to complete as well. I know just like a little kid with their toy box. What can I say? I really enjoy this, and so look forward to this too.

I hope ya'll enjoyed your weekend, and I wish you a super week too! Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and I look forward to seeing you again soon. Take care till then.

Preparing For New Season of Junkin and Thrift Shopping

Preparing For New Season of Junkin and Thrift Shopping

Hi, and Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl! Glad to have you stopping by. In the area I live in Old Man Winter has been trying to hang onto us here, and drag the winter out longer than should be too. I believe this week it is no longer working. Sunshine days, temperatures rising during the day, temperatures warming more at night, no snow but rain, and so on. Spring is finally showing herself to us.

With the seasons changing also comes a new season for Junkin, and Thrifting too! There have been some areas where the weather has been great, and some people have been able to start off with the seasonal shopping. I myself am getting antsy, and I envy those who have already been able to get out, and get started with this seasonal change.

These past couple of years I had slowed down on thrifting, and junking in order to lower my inventory. Also, to change my ways of shopping to what I probably would need. Not what I seen that looks good, is cute, and have to have purchases. Although not all the inventory is gone I have lowered it quite a bit, and of course have made room for more shopping, and to go digging again too! Vintage Collectibles, find items to repurpose, look for items to upcycle, and just find some lovelies that I can reuse too.

I decided this year to stay better organized, and more prepared with things that I should make a list of items that I would like to find, search for, and find. It never fails that every year I always get sidetracked with sales, and come home with loads of things I shouldn't be buying, or you know....that really weren't needed. Come on, you know what I am talking about, right? I figured with a wish list I would at least have more of a goal of what I am wanting, what I need, and it will definitely give me more ideas of what I should be sticking with too. So, tell me, what is on your list for this year?

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl everyone, and hope to see you all again soon. Take care, and Happy Thriftin and Junkin too!

Have a Great Day and Wonderful Weekend Everyone

Have a Great Day, and a Wonderful Weekend Everyone in Blogland!

Hello, and Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl! Glad to have you here, and happy that you found me too. First of all, I finally did it. I now have a .com domain from GoDaddy that leads to my blog here. So much easier to remember too. Yes, you can now find me at http://www.ThriftyShopGirl.com I will try it for the year, play with it, test it a bit, and will enjoy it till then too.

I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday weekend. Mine wasn't too bad. I got to see a very good friend of mine that I do not often see because of the distance apart we live. Course, when we get together we like to talk 'shop' all the time. You know, talk about any new thrift stores we found, or heard of. What we found when we were out thrifting. We also like to discuss different things, and different techniques of repurposing, and upcycling some of the pieces too. We could carry on forever it seems like, and our time really does pass fast. Never enough time together to cover everything. So, we have to then revert to emailing, sending pictures, or showing our listings of what we are offering for sale.

Wow! Holiday weekend is done, and gone. Here is the weekend again already! Any big plans anyone? Nothing here really. The County fair does start this weekend, but not sure if I will make it over there, or not. I need to get pictures done so that I can share some pieces I had found during my thrifting times. Hmmm....maybe I will share a few pictures of what I have done with some pieces too.

Hey, thanks so much for visiting, and sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl! Always nice to have you visit with Me, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and have a wonderful weekend everyone!:)

Happy Weekend and Happy Thrifting Everyone

Happy Weekend and Happy Thrifting Everyone!

Hello, and Welcome back to Thrifty Shop Girl! Beautiful, wonderful, sunshine day, and loving it so far! Woke early this morning, and have been working on laundry, and catching up a bit. Soon I have to leave to give son a ride...naughty boy who lost his license, and I get to taxi him now. Anyway, he has a wedding to go to, will be gone all day and night, and it is "Me" time! Soooo, was thinking of maybe hitting a second hand store, good will, or something like that. Hmmm...the possibilities:) Just need to do a lil bit of junking, or hunting if you prefer. Gotta get that fix.

I also have to remember I am suppose to be packing soon to start getting things ready to move. So, I have to watch very carefully what I acquire. I have a couple of things in mind I am looking for to repurpose with some other glass pieces I have here. Now...if I can only find them!:)

Well everyone, I am off, and running down the road. Glad to have you dropping by Thrifty Shop Girl, and wishing you all a wonderful weekend! See you again soon.

Take care, and Happy Thrifting!:)

Thrifting Glassware Home Decor And Junking Too

Thrifting, Glassware, Home Decor, and Junking too!

Been a while since I been thrifting, and digging. Bothering me too. Weather has been good, some sales happening, and I LOVE this time of year! But, I need to make more room, get a few things done with remodeling of the house to make the room, and to remind myself we are moving too. LOL:) Nothing like putting a damper on a Shop Girl's lively hood, right?:)

Pictured above you will see a few pieces I did find between a couple of thrift stores. Nothing much. Gotta be in the right mood to shop, and all I seem to be interested in that day was glassware. That is fine though because there are some pretty pieces to be found in glassware, and there is soooo much a person can do with reusing, and repurposing glassware also. I did something with the plate, and I'll have to see what file I put that pic in for me to share with ya'll. Turned out kind of cute, and is definitely a keeper for someone who likes the pretty, and simplicity of things too.

Holiday weekend is almost here. Hope ya'll have plans, and are able to enjoy the time. Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and see you again soon. Make sure to say Hi, and share about your thrifting adventures too. Take care.

Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl New Blog

Hello Everyone, and Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl! Glad to have you stopping by, and visiting with Me! As you can see this is a new blog, new postings, and just new everything. I started this blog to be more of a personal one for me doing what I like to do, and sharing what I like to do also. Hmm...nice break from reality for a bit from my business blog, online stores, and etc.

So, making some notes, getting some ideas of what I want to share here, and hopefully we can have some fun doing it too! Nothing formal, nothing fancy, just down to earth simplicity and back to the basics of things. I am usually seen walking aisles of a good ole Thrift Shop, Good Will, Second Hand Store, Consignment Shops looking for the perfect find. Now, don't get worried if you see my feet hanging out a dumpster as I have been known to do that too!

I would love for you to join me as I go thrifting, and sometimes creating unique pieces for the home, outside, or maybe even for your home too! When thrifting I hunt for things of interest which would be vintage with a twist sometimes, mixing old and new, decorating, some cool collections, maybe some unique finds . . . and the list goes on and on!

Here is to thrifting, and thinking outside the box! Thanks for stopping by to visit with Me everyone. See ya'll again real soon. Have a wonderful weekend!:)
