Thrift Finds Repurposed Upcycled

                                         Thrift Store Finds

Cupcake Dessert Stand Green Glass Pedestal Vintage Inspired

Cupcake Stand Vintage Inspired Amber Glass Pedestal Wedding Decor

Thrift Finds Repurposed Upcycled

I just love thrifting, junking, and vintage items too!  The first picture above shows a few things that I had found a while ago while thrifting. A couple of the pieces in the picture were used to make the cupcake stands that you see below my thrift finds.

There are many names used in reference to such pieces. Cupcake stand, amber pedestal stand, vintage inspired, candle holder, soap dish, jewelry dish, bathroom organizer, wedding decor, home decor, and the list goes on. I enjoy creating some of these pieces as they can be versatile, but also have different uses for them. One thing I like is the idea of flipping these over using the plate as the stand, and then using the adorable glass candy dishes as a candy dish, candle holder, trinket dish, jewelry holder, maybe some floating candles, and just so many possibilities!

The 2 handmade items viewed above are listed with my LilacsNDreams ecrater shop. I would love for you to visit, see all the pictures, and the details of things. Make sure to contact Me with any specific questions that you might have.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you again soon. Till then my friends "Happy Thrifting"

Happy Memorial Day Please Remember Our Heroes

Happy Memorial Day Please Remember Our Heroes!

Make this a special day for you, and for your families. Please, remember to stop for a moment to remember those who cannot be with their loved ones. They have paid the ultimate price for our freedoms, and the same for those who are serving far away too. Bless them all!

While enjoying this Memorial Day with the family, and friends and as we fire up the grills to eat our burgers, and hot dogs, I ask you to please remember why we are celebrating this day. We are celebrating our many freedoms that have been fought for, and that have been won by some brave men and women. Today some cannot be home with their families as they are still serving. There are those who have given the greatest sacrifice by laying down their lives to guarantee us the joy of this day! Please, do remember and honor them All!

Giving thanks to all those who have given their tomorrows so that we all can have ours! For those who are on foreign soil still protecting us, and keeping us free today. . . . Stay safe, and return to enjoy the freedoms that you fight for!

So, today/anytime that you see someone in uniform, or maybe you know of someone serving our country, Please walk up to them and shake their hand, give them a hug, or salute them as well. Tell them Thank You for what you have done for Me, for my Family, for our Friends, and for our Country. Believe Me, they really do enjoy this, and are very happy to receive this from all of us. I have watched it done to our son when he comes home to visit, and the smile with pride he gets on his face for knowing he is doing our country good.

Have a fun-filled enjoyable Memorial Day everyone. Be Safe, and God's Blessing to All!

While enjoying your weekend of celebrations with family, and friends please take a moment to remember those who have fallen, those who are still on foreign grounds, and those who are at home with us as they all fight/have fought for our freedoms of today that we enjoy.

Blessings to them all, God Bless The Military of America!

Thoughts and Prayers to Those of Oklahoma

Thoughts and Prayers to Those of Oklahoma

I was working on some new posts for this blog when I had other thoughts from recent events of the past few days. After the devastation of what has happened to those in Oklahoma these past few days, I decided instead to have some much needed prayers sent out to all of those who have been effected by the recent tragedies. My heart goes out to all those who were caught within these horrid paths of the tornadoes. All thoughts, and prayers are with you during this time. Prayers are requested for your hearts to be healed as you are putting your lives back together.

May God Bless you, and help you. Blessings to You in Oklahoma!

New Postal Rates Starting January 27, 2013

Reminder of New Postal Rates for 2013 that start January 27, 2013.

It's a new year, and of course we always have changes that come along with it as well. Over time the Post Office has switched from doing large postage increases every 4 years to a smaller increase each year to keep up with different costs, and industry fluctuations. Since that change is coming fast for many of us which is on this Sunday I thought I would give you all a reminder of this, and what I was able to put together to help assist you with these changes.

The Forever Stamps, the ones that remain good despite future postal rate increases, will increase to 46 cents. (Hint) Purchase a bunch of 45 cent Forever Stamps now.

Here is a rundown of some of the price increases:

• First-Class Mail, one ounce will be 46 cents
• First-Class Mail Post Card 33 cents
• Stamped Post Cards 37 cents
• Electronic Return Receipt $1.25
• Certificate of Mailing $1.20

New Domestic Retail Pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate Products:

• Small Box $5.80
• Medium Box $12.35
• Large Box $16.85
• Large APO/FPO Box $14.85
• Regular Envelope $5.60
• Large Envelope $5.75
• Padded Envelope $5.95

Other changes will be also include a First-Class Mail Global Forever Stamp that is going to allow customers to mail letters that are up to 2 ounces to Canada, and then up to 1 ounce for anywhere else in the world for a set price of  $1.10.

A complete list of prices with some additional information can be found here. When visiting this USPS site I found that opening the CVS files were readable for me. I wish the post office would give us better charts, and prices prior to these changes so that we ourselves could better prepare with some of our online businesses, our hobbies that we have, and just any of our online services. Unfortunately, until they fully go into effect it is almost like a mystery, and so very hard to find.

I do hope this finds everyone adjusting with the changes, and preparing your listings that you have with your online selling market places, venues, websites, and etc. I haven't started yet, but hope to be working on all my listings in the next few days making these adjustments. If something would sell before the prices do go into effect I would gladly reimburse the difference to the customer as I have always done.

I would like to take this time to Thank ALL of you with your patience during my time of absence from blogging with you. It all has to do with family which is important to me. My Daddy has not been doing well, had some issues, and right after Christmas we got some disheartening news with him as well. So, now we are enjoying our time with him, doing what we can to make things comfortable, and cherishing each day to the fullest. 2013 is a New Year, our first month of this new year is almost done, and I vote that we make the best of this new year that we can!

Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl everyone, and hope to see you again soon. Take care till the next time. Hmm...maybe I will have some pictures ready for you to view of some thrifting I had done sparingly for our winter months here. See ya'll later!  Toodles . . .

Have a Great Day and Wonderful Weekend Everyone

Have a Great Day, and a Wonderful Weekend Everyone in Blogland!

Hello, and Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl! Glad to have you here, and happy that you found me too. First of all, I finally did it. I now have a .com domain from GoDaddy that leads to my blog here. So much easier to remember too. Yes, you can now find me at http://www.ThriftyShopGirl.com I will try it for the year, play with it, test it a bit, and will enjoy it till then too.

I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday weekend. Mine wasn't too bad. I got to see a very good friend of mine that I do not often see because of the distance apart we live. Course, when we get together we like to talk 'shop' all the time. You know, talk about any new thrift stores we found, or heard of. What we found when we were out thrifting. We also like to discuss different things, and different techniques of repurposing, and upcycling some of the pieces too. We could carry on forever it seems like, and our time really does pass fast. Never enough time together to cover everything. So, we have to then revert to emailing, sending pictures, or showing our listings of what we are offering for sale.

Wow! Holiday weekend is done, and gone. Here is the weekend again already! Any big plans anyone? Nothing here really. The County fair does start this weekend, but not sure if I will make it over there, or not. I need to get pictures done so that I can share some pieces I had found during my thrifting times. Hmmm....maybe I will share a few pictures of what I have done with some pieces too.

Hey, thanks so much for visiting, and sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl! Always nice to have you visit with Me, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and have a wonderful weekend everyone!:)

Thrift Stores, Antique Barn Shopping, Junking

Thrift Stores, Antique Barn Shopping, Junking

Hello, and Welcome back to Thrifty Shop Girl everyone! Glad to see you here. So, how has the summer been for everyone? Where on earth did the time all go to? Seems like I was finally getting out doing a few things, and poof! It is almost gone already. Schools have started, pools are closed, and this coming weekend is Labor Day Weekend already. Doesn't seem fair, does it? Now, if we were living back down south our summers would go a little bit longer, and I would be able to go digging for things a little bit longer too. Hmmm.....see what the future holds for us.

Above is a picture of some things I had gotten when a very good friend of mine was visiting in town. We got to a Thrift Store, and we also got out to a place on the farm that sells vintage and antiques from their barns, and shed they have designed for it. I know...with all of that offerings I should have come home with sooo much more, but I was so enjoying the time with my friend. Jibber Jabbering, sharing things, and just enjoying what time we have is what I wanted to do:)

I have 2 little blue, and white saucer plates that will probably get attached to those lovely blue glass candle holders. I picked up another milk white glass jacobs ladder vase as you see above. With the 2 vases, and those 2 vintage milk glass ashtrays I have been playing, and thinking about some things to do. That yummy green pan will stay with me. The clear glass candle holders can always be used with something, and that glass like cloche will probably get something done with it too. I just love finding things that I can put together, and make something new to be treasured again.

By the way, I sold a gorgeous blue glass lamp that had been converted from an oil lamp to an electric one. In place of that I do think I will keep the lamp you see pictured above. Still looking at it, looks nice when it is lit, and I like things like that. Simpler times from another time in life. Gotta love it!

Well, I hope this finds everyone doing well. I appreciate ya'll stopping by to share your time with Thrifty Shop Girl! Hope to see ya'll again real soon. Take care, and safe travels with the holiday soon here.
