Have a Wonderful Fun Filled Saturday
Have a Wonderful Fun Filled Saturday Everyone!
Finally able to hop on by here to let everyone know I was absent due to a computer issue. I was working on my posts I wanted to have done for here. Moving right along, and all of a sudden the screen went black. No warning!
So, I waited few minutes, and turned the computer off, and back on. Screen was coming in, and out till it finally would stay black. Had sound, and everything just no screen. So, on Thursday I was lucky enough to be able to get the monitor to a computer place to have it diagnosed for me. I was really hoping it would be a new power cord that was needed, or maybe a new vsg cord needed. Unfortunately, I was not so luck. I was told I would need a new monitor.
I spent all day today hitting yard sales, some of the thrift stores in the area, and was about to give up when I found a monitor that I was able to get. Bit smaller than my other one, but it will do for now. It's new, it runs, and it will be a back up monitor if ever needed too.
Hopefully soon I will get to the cities where I can spend more time looking, and definitely have some choices of ones to choose from too.
By the way while driving to another location to search for a monitor I had a neat idea in the car about what to do with the one not working. As the tech told me for the age of the screen it is in good condition. So, I decided instead of throwing it out I want to repurpose the monitor. I am thinking of maybe putting some sort of cork board over it, or around the outer edging not touching the screen. I then want to add a small edge to it as well. I could then use it in the office as a message center, or I could use it on the kitchen counter as a message center too. With the edge it would have I could also set maybe a cookbook on it with recipes to use when cooking too. I am really liking this idea, and have been having visions of it too.
Hope this finds ya'll doing well, and thanks so much for sharing some time with Thrifty Shop Girl. Enjoy your Saturday! Have fun, and hope you are able to do some thrifting, or yard sales too. See you all again soon.

Summer Time Fun Thrift Junk and Repurpose
Summer Time Fun Thrift Junk and Repurpe
WooHoo! Here it's June finally, and summer here we come! Got big plans for this summer? Do your plans include maybe doing some thrift shopping, yard saling, flea markets, or some estate sales? Yes, my plans include these things. They also include spending time with family, friends, grilling, sunning, and events that come with all of that. I also enjoy the idea of working on some projects. I have been waiting for this time with my notes I have prepared, my lists I have been making so that I can start my searches for different treasures to use for projects I would like to complete.
Now that it has gotten a bit warmer out I look forward to opening the garage, and getting some small projects painted. I also will enjoy filling my dining room table with some projects to complete as well. I know just like a little kid with their toy box. What can I say? I really enjoy this, and so look forward to this too.
I hope ya'll enjoyed your weekend, and I wish you a super week too! Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and I look forward to seeing you again soon. Take care till then.

Thoughts and Prayers to Those of Oklahoma
Thoughts and Prayers to Those of Oklahoma
I was working on some new posts for this blog when I had other thoughts from recent events of the past few days. After the devastation of
what has happened to those in Oklahoma these past few days, I decided instead to
have some much needed prayers sent out to all of those who have been effected by the recent tragedies. My heart goes out to all those who were caught within these horrid
paths of the tornadoes. All thoughts, and prayers are with you
during this time. Prayers are requested for your hearts to be healed as
you are putting your lives back together.
May God Bless you, and help
you. Blessings to You in Oklahoma!

Reasons to Thrift and What to Thrift Shop For

Chevron Blankets Glass Lamps

Jewelry of sorts Chair
Shoes AND Picture above is for the Roll Top Desk
Vintage Dishes, Plates, Etc Vintage Tupperware
Reasons to Thrift, and What to Thrift Shop For. I can think of many with no excuses needed too. How about you? What is your preference? Thrift Stores, Second Hand Stores, Estate Sales, Good Will, Online Stores, and so many more places.
My preference is Thrift Stores, Second Hand Stores, and Estate Sales too. When I go out thrifting for the day I will go to all kinds of stores. All depends what town, or city I am in. What is there to shop with, and sometimes what I am in the mood to shop for too. Sometimes I want to shop just for items that I can repurpose with, upcycle, and recycle with. Other times it might be something I am looking for in the home with some of our decor. I am thrilled when I can find older vintage pieces, collectibles, and other times I will buy curtains, table cloths, or different linens just because I like the materials to use in altering for my own purposes.
So many possibilities out there to be seen, to have, and shopping on a dime is so much fun too! The pictures shown above this are just ideas of different things that can be found when you are out thrifting. The possibilities are endless. If you truly love the hunt then you will enjoy thrifting too. Sometimes I go by myself as I can spend time looking. But, sometimes having a friend along is a blast too. Someone to share your finds with, and ideas too.
Here it is the middle of the week. The weekend will soon be here, today is the official start of spring, weather is getting better to shop in, and I don't know about you....but I sure am getting antsy for the season to be good so I can get out there to do some thrifting.
Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl today everyone. Glad to see you, and hope to see you dropping by again soon. Take care, have fun, and happy thrifting everyone!

New Postal Rates Starting January 27, 2013
Reminder of New Postal Rates for 2013 that start January 27, 2013.
It's a new year, and of course we always have changes that come along with it as well. Over time the Post Office has switched from doing large postage increases every 4 years to a smaller increase each year to keep up with different costs, and industry fluctuations. Since that change is coming fast for many of us which is on this Sunday I thought I would give you all a reminder of this, and what I was able to put together to help assist you with these changes.
The Forever Stamps, the ones that remain good despite future postal rate increases, will increase to 46 cents. (Hint) Purchase a bunch of 45 cent Forever Stamps now.
Here is a rundown of some of the price increases:
• First-Class Mail, one ounce will be 46 cents
• First-Class Mail Post Card 33 cents
• Stamped Post Cards 37 cents
• Electronic Return Receipt $1.25
• Certificate of Mailing $1.20
New Domestic Retail Pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate Products:
• Small Box $5.80
• Medium Box $12.35
• Large Box $16.85
• Large APO/FPO Box $14.85
• Regular Envelope $5.60
• Large Envelope $5.75
• Padded Envelope $5.95
Other changes will be also include a First-Class Mail Global Forever Stamp that is going to allow customers to mail letters that are up to 2 ounces to Canada, and then up to 1 ounce for anywhere else in the world for a set price of $1.10.
A complete list of prices with some additional information can be found here. When visiting this USPS site I found that opening the CVS files were readable for me. I wish the post office would give us better charts, and prices prior to these changes so that we ourselves could better prepare with some of our online businesses, our hobbies that we have, and just any of our online services. Unfortunately, until they fully go into effect it is almost like a mystery, and so very hard to find.
I do hope this finds everyone adjusting with the changes, and preparing your listings that you have with your online selling market places, venues, websites, and etc. I haven't started yet, but hope to be working on all my listings in the next few days making these adjustments. If something would sell before the prices do go into effect I would gladly reimburse the difference to the customer as I have always done.
I would like to take this time to Thank ALL of you with your patience during my time of absence from blogging with you. It all has to do with family which is important to me. My Daddy has not been doing well, had some issues, and right after Christmas we got some disheartening news with him as well. So, now we are enjoying our time with him, doing what we can to make things comfortable, and cherishing each day to the fullest. 2013 is a New Year, our first month of this new year is almost done, and I vote that we make the best of this new year that we can!
Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl everyone, and hope to see you again soon. Take care till the next time. Hmm...maybe I will have some pictures ready for you to view of some thrifting I had done sparingly for our winter months here. See ya'll later! Toodles . . .

Rememeber Time Goes Back Set Your Clocks
Hi! Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl everyone! Not only have we had a change of the season, Halloween is now past us, preparations for Thanksgiving soon to be here, but we have another change to remember that happens this weekend. Don't forget to set your clocks back everyone. Sweet! We get to fall back 1 hour which means we can sleep an hour longer, take an hour longer getting up to get some where, and many of us shall enjoy this.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend of fun, relaxation, family and friends, and of course if you feel the need to do any Thrifting, digging, painting, gluing, repurposing, upcycling, reusing pieces, and maybe cleaning some vintage pieces too. Whatever you choose I wish you well, fun, and to be safe.
Thanks for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you again soon. Take care everyone!

Good Morning Thrifters Junkers Good Will Searchers
Good Morning Thrifters Junkers and Good Will Searchers.
Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl, and glad to see you! So, tell me how was your weekend? Mine wasn't too bad here. Nice weather, been cooler at night, birthday celebrations Saturday night, and found some fun thrifting items too.
I so enjoy glassware because I see possibilities with pieces that I get at once, or over time I collect pieces that eventually fit together the way I need them too. Along the way it never hurts to pick up a few other items that can some day serve a purpose in need too. Below you will see some pieces that I had found, brought home, and have been washed and cleaned. The green glass relish plate did not really need any cleaning, looks almost like new, but gave it a minor rinse anyway. I found a small glass candy bowl, an adorable yellow ceramic bowl, 2 glass candle holders, and a pair of clip on earrings. The shorter wider glass candle holder washed up nicely. Has a very slight light iridescent color to it when the sunshine is on it. Actually, I used it as the pedestal base on the green glass relish tray. They look very nice together. The other pieces I had found while thrifting will eventually find usage in ways for me too.
I want to thank you so much for sharing your time at Thrifty Shop Girl, and visiting my blog today. Hope to see you again soon. Happy Thrift Store Shopping everyone till the next time. Toodle Loo......

Have a Great Day and Wonderful Weekend Everyone
Have a Great Day, and a Wonderful Weekend Everyone in Blogland!
Hello, and Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl! Glad to have you here, and happy that you found me too. First of all, I finally did it. I now have a .com domain from GoDaddy that leads to my blog here. So much easier to remember too. Yes, you can now find me at http://www.ThriftyShopGirl.com I will try it for the year, play with it, test it a bit, and will enjoy it till then too.
I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday weekend. Mine wasn't too bad. I got to see a very good friend of mine that I do not often see because of the distance apart we live. Course, when we get together we like to talk 'shop' all the time. You know, talk about any new thrift stores we found, or heard of. What we found when we were out thrifting. We also like to discuss different things, and different techniques of repurposing, and upcycling some of the pieces too. We could carry on forever it seems like, and our time really does pass fast. Never enough time together to cover everything. So, we have to then revert to emailing, sending pictures, or showing our listings of what we are offering for sale.
Wow! Holiday weekend is done, and gone. Here is the weekend again already! Any big plans anyone? Nothing here really. The County fair does start this weekend, but not sure if I will make it over there, or not. I need to get pictures done so that I can share some pieces I had found during my thrifting times. Hmmm....maybe I will share a few pictures of what I have done with some pieces too.
Hey, thanks so much for visiting, and sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl! Always nice to have you visit with Me, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and have a wonderful weekend everyone!:)

Thrifty Shop Girl Thrifty Garage Sale Finds
Thrifty Shop Girl Thrifty Garage Sale Finds.
Welcome back Thrifters, and Garage Sale Hunters! Glad to see you visiting again with Thrifty Shop Girl. Well, it has been a week, and I have been to another tag garage sale again this morning. This is a small area I live in, and doing these tag sale type things is new to the area. Honestly, just feels like another garage sale when they do it. I wanted to go this morning because the estate this belonged to was the couple that use to own the baker in town....for many many years. Sadly, I was expecting more when I got there, and of course some of the prices these ladies that do this stuff are putting on things...well, I was just expecting different I guess.
I did get 3 bundles of about 5 a piece of some old wooden hangers. The top that has the wired hanging hook, and then the wooden clip/closure on the bottom. I got me some ideas, and possibilities. But, anyway.....getting ahead of myself here now. I need to show pics from what I got last week, and some of those fun things. So, let me get that all rounded up for ya'll to see.
As you can see I did not get a whole lot of things. There really was not all that much there I seemed to be interested in, or the prices were marked where I did not like them too. But, anyway, you can see the vintage kitchen scale I got, bag of pink flowers that is pretty much the top of them with their stems being cut off, a vintage coffee teapot, big wooden paper clip, a white doilie, and a decorative pink hankie doilie type thing too. Just enough I was comfortable with.
The scale does work. I just need to check on how accurate for sure. The wooden clothes pin I am thinking of painting, and adding some fabric, or maybe some scrapbook paper to it...decorate it up a bit. The coffee teapot is in very good clean condition. Looks almost like new with really no use to it. I have little vases, or jars that could use a single, or maybe a couple of them pink roses in them. The white doilie I think I will add to a cheese holder, or a cloche that I have upcycled by painting the wooden like base pink. As for the decorative hankie....that might just go over another one of my lamp shades in the home too. I like doing that:)
Well, that was it for last week. I'll get pictured the few things I got this morning. I don't want to show quite yet cuz I might be stopping by a sale that is starting this afternoon. Can't get there till about an hour after it starts, but I am not looking for small things either. I have a glass piece in mind to put with others I have here, but....we will see what happens. Wish me luck everyone. Happy Thrifting, and see you again real soon. Thanks for visiting with Thrifty Shop Girl! Toodles........

Thrifty Store Shopping Completed at Missions Store
Thrifty Store Shopping Completed at Missions Store, yes! Hmmm.....it felt good!
Hello, and Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl. Glad to have you stopping by. I finally did it! Has been a long time now....well, rather it has been a long time since I found anything to add to my inventory I should say. I was out of town yesterday, and had it in mind I wanted to stop by 2-3 different places I like to frequent when doing some thrifting.
I didn't make it to all 3 of them, but did get to spend time at one of the places. This place called Missions is a place where donations are made, and that money is used to help others, and what they do. I have donated here myself too:) Anyway, a very good friend of mine Mary from MaryLouLavender*s at ebay is the one who made me aware of this store, and to check it out some time. She is another junking buddy of mine, and we share some of the same interests in what we do. She offers her wares at Ebay for sale. Stop by to give her a look. Never know, might find something you are in need of too.
Ok, back to my thrifting. I enjoy shopping here because when I find things I usually walk out with some descent deals. Yesterday I walked out with 2 big white envelope boxes, and 2 bags full of items for about $10. Not bad, huh? Most of it was glassware as it is smaller, and easier for me to work with other pieces that I have at home for repurposing, and upcycling with. I found 5 glass candle holders that still had their original tags on them! I found an adorable wood vent that really looks like a small shutter....I just love shutters to recreate with. I found 2 green glass terra like pots that also had their original tags on them, a pink silky doilie hanky type piece, a white doilie, a jar with the doilies on top of it and some potpourri - I mostly wanted the doilie from this:) Oh, yeah, I love using planners for things whether it is making notes of things to do, shopping lists, keeping addresses and information in them, and etc. I found a black leather Kenneth Cole planner that looks almost like new yet. Such a soft leather, and for the price....no way I could pass this up either. I found a Home Interiors & Gifts glass candle holder. This one is a bit bigger, round, and short with the open center to use for possibilities. I have used a piece like this before to repurpose with a plate, and was happy to find this one. I have just the vintage plate to add it with. How neat, 2 vintage pieces repurposed together to make another treasure to adorn the home with.
Silly Me....here are the pictures I took quick for this occasion. 1 picture shows all things together, and the other 2 pictures I zoomed in for a bit closer look of the items found.
Sorry, I wasn't thinking and had left the date turned on with my camera. The green/aqua wire like thing in the background had ice tray rack written on it...course I see another possibility with this. The pink rose vase looks like new, adorable lil handles, and could also be used as a utensil holder too. And, love that very light blue planter vase too! Such a soft color, beautiful glazed shine, and it also looks like new too! I was happy with the few pieces I found, and wanted to go to a couple of other stores, but did not make it. Hmm...maybe next week? Will see what the days bring to me.
Thanks so much for sharing time at Thrifty Shop Girl! Hope you enjoyed, and remember you are always welcome to share/comment with all of us here too. Take care, and come back to visit again soon. See ya!:)

Thanks so much for sharing time at Thrifty Shop Girl! Hope you enjoyed, and remember you are always welcome to share/comment with all of us here too. Take care, and come back to visit again soon. See ya!:)
