Preparing For New Season of Junkin and Thrift Shopping
Hi, and Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl! Glad to have you stopping by. In the area I live in Old Man Winter has been trying to hang onto us here, and drag the winter out longer than should be too. I believe this week it is no longer working. Sunshine days, temperatures rising during the day, temperatures warming more at night, no snow but rain, and so on. Spring is finally showing herself to us.
With the seasons changing also comes a new season for Junkin, and Thrifting too! There have been some areas where the weather has been great, and some people have been able to start off with the seasonal shopping. I myself am getting antsy, and I envy those who have already been able to get out, and get started with this seasonal change.
These past couple of years I had slowed down on thrifting, and junking in order to lower my inventory. Also, to change my ways of shopping to what I probably would need. Not what I seen that looks good, is cute, and have to have purchases. Although not all the inventory is gone I have lowered it quite a bit, and of course have made room for more shopping, and to go digging again too! Vintage Collectibles, find items to repurpose, look for items to upcycle, and just find some lovelies that I can reuse too.
I decided this year to stay better organized, and more prepared with things that I should make a list of items that I would like to find, search for, and find. It never fails that every year I always get sidetracked with sales, and come home with loads of things I shouldn't be buying, or you know....that really weren't needed. Come on, you know what I am talking about, right? I figured with a wish list I would at least have more of a goal of what I am wanting, what I need, and it will definitely give me more ideas of what I should be sticking with too. So, tell me, what is on your list for this year?
Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl everyone, and hope to see you all again soon. Take care, and Happy Thriftin and Junkin too!

Reasons to Thrift and What to Thrift Shop For

Chevron Blankets Glass Lamps

Jewelry of sorts Chair
Shoes AND Picture above is for the Roll Top Desk
Vintage Dishes, Plates, Etc Vintage Tupperware
Reasons to Thrift, and What to Thrift Shop For. I can think of many with no excuses needed too. How about you? What is your preference? Thrift Stores, Second Hand Stores, Estate Sales, Good Will, Online Stores, and so many more places.
My preference is Thrift Stores, Second Hand Stores, and Estate Sales too. When I go out thrifting for the day I will go to all kinds of stores. All depends what town, or city I am in. What is there to shop with, and sometimes what I am in the mood to shop for too. Sometimes I want to shop just for items that I can repurpose with, upcycle, and recycle with. Other times it might be something I am looking for in the home with some of our decor. I am thrilled when I can find older vintage pieces, collectibles, and other times I will buy curtains, table cloths, or different linens just because I like the materials to use in altering for my own purposes.
So many possibilities out there to be seen, to have, and shopping on a dime is so much fun too! The pictures shown above this are just ideas of different things that can be found when you are out thrifting. The possibilities are endless. If you truly love the hunt then you will enjoy thrifting too. Sometimes I go by myself as I can spend time looking. But, sometimes having a friend along is a blast too. Someone to share your finds with, and ideas too.
Here it is the middle of the week. The weekend will soon be here, today is the official start of spring, weather is getting better to shop in, and I don't know about you....but I sure am getting antsy for the season to be good so I can get out there to do some thrifting.
Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl today everyone. Glad to see you, and hope to see you dropping by again soon. Take care, have fun, and happy thrifting everyone!

New Postal Rates Starting January 27, 2013
Reminder of New Postal Rates for 2013 that start January 27, 2013.
It's a new year, and of course we always have changes that come along with it as well. Over time the Post Office has switched from doing large postage increases every 4 years to a smaller increase each year to keep up with different costs, and industry fluctuations. Since that change is coming fast for many of us which is on this Sunday I thought I would give you all a reminder of this, and what I was able to put together to help assist you with these changes.
The Forever Stamps, the ones that remain good despite future postal rate increases, will increase to 46 cents. (Hint) Purchase a bunch of 45 cent Forever Stamps now.
Here is a rundown of some of the price increases:
• First-Class Mail, one ounce will be 46 cents
• First-Class Mail Post Card 33 cents
• Stamped Post Cards 37 cents
• Electronic Return Receipt $1.25
• Certificate of Mailing $1.20
New Domestic Retail Pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate Products:
• Small Box $5.80
• Medium Box $12.35
• Large Box $16.85
• Large APO/FPO Box $14.85
• Regular Envelope $5.60
• Large Envelope $5.75
• Padded Envelope $5.95
Other changes will be also include a First-Class Mail Global Forever Stamp that is going to allow customers to mail letters that are up to 2 ounces to Canada, and then up to 1 ounce for anywhere else in the world for a set price of $1.10.
A complete list of prices with some additional information can be found here. When visiting this USPS site I found that opening the CVS files were readable for me. I wish the post office would give us better charts, and prices prior to these changes so that we ourselves could better prepare with some of our online businesses, our hobbies that we have, and just any of our online services. Unfortunately, until they fully go into effect it is almost like a mystery, and so very hard to find.
I do hope this finds everyone adjusting with the changes, and preparing your listings that you have with your online selling market places, venues, websites, and etc. I haven't started yet, but hope to be working on all my listings in the next few days making these adjustments. If something would sell before the prices do go into effect I would gladly reimburse the difference to the customer as I have always done.
I would like to take this time to Thank ALL of you with your patience during my time of absence from blogging with you. It all has to do with family which is important to me. My Daddy has not been doing well, had some issues, and right after Christmas we got some disheartening news with him as well. So, now we are enjoying our time with him, doing what we can to make things comfortable, and cherishing each day to the fullest. 2013 is a New Year, our first month of this new year is almost done, and I vote that we make the best of this new year that we can!
Thanks so much for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl everyone, and hope to see you again soon. Take care till the next time. Hmm...maybe I will have some pictures ready for you to view of some thrifting I had done sparingly for our winter months here. See ya'll later! Toodles . . .

Remember Time Goes Back Set Your Clocks
Rememeber Time Goes Back Set Your Clocks
Hi! Welcome to Thrifty Shop Girl everyone! Not only have we had a change of the season, Halloween is now past us, preparations for Thanksgiving soon to be here, but we have another change to remember that happens this weekend. Don't forget to set your clocks back everyone. Sweet! We get to fall back 1 hour which means we can sleep an hour longer, take an hour longer getting up to get some where, and many of us shall enjoy this.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend of fun, relaxation, family and friends, and of course if you feel the need to do any Thrifting, digging, painting, gluing, repurposing, upcycling, reusing pieces, and maybe cleaning some vintage pieces too. Whatever you choose I wish you well, fun, and to be safe.
Thanks for sharing your time with Thrifty Shop Girl, and hope to see you again soon. Take care everyone!
